A car when you need one. Nothing when you dont.
The average car sits parked about 95% of the time. You still pay for it rego, insurance, WOF, servicing, tyres, and a park that isn't free either. That's a lot to carry for something you use a few hours a week.
Where ZILCH started
Zilch began in Christchurch in 2017 as Yoogo Share — New Zealand's first fully electric carshare, launched alongside one of the country's largest EV charging projects at the time.In 2019 the business was bought out and rebranded as Zilch.
The idea underneath it hasn't changed since: most cars sit unused about 95% of the time, so the country doesn't need more cars as it needs better access to the ones already here.
Auckland followed in 2020, then Wellington, Hamilton and Invercargill. Along the way we picked up the Sustainable Transport Award, an Australasian Fleet Champions award, and a Westpac Excellence in Innovation Award.

where we are now
Zilch runs hubs across Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, Wellington and Invercargill. City centres, business parks, airports and suburbs. We're adding cars and locations as we grow. Mevo is live at Wellington Airport, and at hubs and hotels around Queenstown. We're adding cars and locations as we grow.
